Welcome to the Lich Gate, the village magazine for Almondsbury in South Gloucestershire. The Lich Gate has a circulation of 1320 issues and is published by the Almondsbury PCC. It is distributed to all households in the village.  

 

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Almondsbury

Good progress is being made with arrangements for the Diamond Jubilee  weekend, 1 - 5 June 2012. You can participate by:

  • Taking a craft stall at the Village Fayre on Glebe Field on Monday 4 June; contact Marion Phillips 01454 612174
  • Proving you have just as much bindweed and slug damage as the rest of us by opening your REAL GARDEN to your neighbours on Saturday 2 June. This is just for fun and not competitive, but intended to show the range of gardens in the village. Contact Marion Phillips 01454 612174
  • Joining the planning committee as there is still plenty to do.
  • Offering to help with organisation on the day. Contact Alison Rowe 01454 613223
  • Look out for the posters and leaflets appearing around the village.

Do you have old films that were taken by somebody in the village during the "Almondsbury at home" celebrations many years ago .

We have asked a few people and no one knows where they are. If you do know anything about them please phone the vicarage, we would like to show them over the jubilee weekend.

 

 

Diamond Jubilee Classic Cars

As part of the celebrations, we are planning to have a display of classic cars during the afternoon of Monday 4th June 2012. We have provisional use of the Surgery car park, but we may be able to extend the display to an area nearby. With space being relatively limited, we are thinking in terms of inviting owners of post-war classic cars to attend: such cars would also be representative of those on the road during the early years of Her Majesty's reign. We have already had several expressions of interest and if you would like to show off your pride and joy, your car, that is, please contact Graham Jeffery on 01454 612821.
